Beauty masks for aging skin

Beauty masks are even more important to aging skin because of severe dryness and dead-cell buildup. Therefore, your masks are designed to both moisturize and remove cells along with the usual benefits of a deep internal and external cleansing.

Deep Penetrating Hot Oil Mask

1/2 cup virgin olive oil (moisturizer)
1 square cheesecloth

Cut out a mask from the cheesecloth to fit your face, leaving holes for your eyes and mouth. Warm the olive oil and soak cloth in it. Wring out lightly and fit to face. As cloth cools, dip again into warm oil and reapply. Repeat several times. Rinse oil off your face with warm water and pat dry. A nice, dewy coating will remain to protect you.

Protein Scrub Mask

1 egg yolk (protein)
1 tbsp castor oil (moisturizer)
2 tbsp table salt (abrasive)
1 tsp lemon juice (works with oil to remove dead-cell layer, can be eliminated if skin is sensitive)

Mix all together and spread on face. Let remain for 20 minutes. Remove with warm water, but while doing so, use a washing motion (gently – salt is very abrasive) to benefit from the beauty grains of salt. Splash face with cool water and pat dry.

Oatmeal-Milk Scrub Mask

1/2 cup milk
Pulverized oatmeal

Pulverize oatmeal in blender (do not use instant type). Add to milk until a thick paste is formed. Spread on face and leave for 20 minutes. Remove with warm water and use a washing motion to gain benefit from the beauty grains of oatmeal. Splash face with cool water and pat dry.

Moisturizing creams for aging skin

With moisturizing creams, a gentle upward and outward massage should be employed to stimulate circulation of the blood, which will, in turn, nourish the skin. A gentle massage will also stimulate and strengthen the underlying muscle fiber which will help maintain the elasticity of the skin. However, do not massage too deeply; a gentle but firm motion is adequate for an aging skin which will no longer benefit from a strong massage.
After you have worked the cream well into your skin, spray some mineral water or rose water (keep it in an old, well-scrubbed Windex bottle) lightly over the face. It will help the cream penetrate and hydrate your thirsty skin at the same time.

Honey-Rose Moisturizing Cream

2 oz sesame oil (or 1 oz sesame oil and 1 oz rose0scented oil)
1 tbsp beeswax
1 oz rose water
1/4 tsp borax
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp liquid lecithin2-4 drops red food coloring

Melt beeswax over low heat. Warm oil, honey and lecithin together and dribble into wax beating constantly. Warm rose water and borax and, pouring slowly, beat into mixture until cool and creamy. Makes 3 oz. Refrigerate.

Coconut Moisturizing Cream with Vitamins A, D and E

1 oz wheat germ oil
2 tbsp anhydrous lanolin
2 tbsp cocoa butter
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 oz plus 1 tbsp coconut extract
2 tsp liquid lecithin
1/4 tsp borax
10 vitamin pills each vitamin A and D

Melt cocoa butter and coconut oil and add to warmed wheat germ oil, lanolin and lecithin. Beat together thoroughly. Warm extract and borax and, pouring slowly, beat into mixture until cool and creamy. Prick vitamin pills with a pin and squeeze into cream. Beat again until fluffy. Makes 3 oz. Refrigerate.

Blended Oils Moisturizing liquid

1 oz almond oil
1 oz wheat germ oil
1 oz avocado oil
1 oz coconut oil
1 oz castor oil
1 tbsp liquid lecithin

Heat all together and beat well until thoroughly mixed (don't be concerned if mixture becomes foamy). Cool and put in bottle. Refrigerate.

Vegetable Oil Moisturizing Liquid

Vegetable of your choice.

Face-Butter Moisturizing Cream

1 container any brand margarine

Margarine is already a solidified mixture of oils (note soy oil on the package) which works wonderfully as a moisturizer for woman who don't care to make their own.

Special Over-Night Moisturizing Cream

1 oz caster oil
1 oz coconut oil
2 tbsp anhydrous lanolin
1 oz wheat germ oil
1 tbsp liquid lecithin

Heat together and beat thoroughly (don't be concerned if mixture becomes foamy). Cool and pour into bottle.

Skin refresheners for aging skin

Applying a skin freshener is not putting lotion on you face, you're swiping very last trace of oils, dirt, and grime off your face. Remember, too, that, especially for aging skin, a skin freshener is restoring the proper acid balance to you skin, hence protecting it.
Moisten a cotton pad with the freshener and then, with upward and outward strokes, wipe your face with gentle, but firm movements. Use several pieces of cotton if necessary until no more dirt is apparent.

Witch Hazel Skin Freshener

Use as you would any fancy brand. It will work just as well or even possibly better because it is absolutely pure.

Strawberry or Cucumber Skin Freshener

2 oz strained strawberry or cucumber juice
3 oz witch hazel
1 oz alcohol (eliminate if skin is very dry)
1 tbsp vegetable oil

Shake all together in bottle. (Refrigerate Cucumber freshener.)

Rose Water Skin Freshener

3 oz rose water
1 oz alcohol
1 tsp vegetable oil

Shake all together in bottle.

Grapefruit, Lemon or Lime Skin Freshener

Fruit of your choice
3 oz alcohol
4 oz witch hazel
1 tbsp vegetable oil

Peel fruit (avoid including white pith with peels) and cut into thin strips. Place alcohol in small glass bowl and add 2 tbsp of the peels. Let stand, covered tightly, for three days. Reserve 2 oz of the flavored alcohol. Add all other ingredients and shake well in bottle. (You may note that in all skin fresheners for other types of skins, the actual juices are too astringent for an aging skin, and by soaking the peels in this manner, the oils of the fruit peel are extracted giving all of the fruit’s refreshing attributes and aroma without its full strength.)

Chamomile Skin Freshener

2 oz chamomile tea
4 oz witch hazel

Shake together in bottle.

Cleansing creams for aging skin

Vegetable Cleansing Oil

If you prefer a liquid cleanser, any vegetable oil of your choice will work as well as the fanciest cream. And, if you purchase it in a health food store, you will get oil totally devoid of any preservatives. You can’t get purer than that.

Oatmeal Cleansing Scrub

1 oz cocoa butter
2 oz almond oil
1 oz rose water
1 tbsp beeswax
1/4 tsp borax
2-3 tbsp pulverize oatmeal (not the instant type)

Pulverize oatmeal in blender and set aside. Melt beeswax over low heat. Melt cocoa butter separately and add to warm almond oil. Dribble oil into beeswax (off the fire) beating constantly. Warm rose water and borax and beat into mixture until creamy and cool. Beat in oatmeal. Makes 4 oz. Refrigerate.

Strawberry-Almond Cleansing Scrub

1 tbsp beeswax
2 oz peanut oil
1 tbsp strawberry juice
1 tbsp witch hazel
1/4 tsp borax
Pulverize almonds

Liquefy strawberries in juicer or blender. Strain and set aside. Melt beeswax over low heat. Warm peanut oil and pouring slowly, beat into wax. Heat 1 tbsp of the strawberry juice with the witch hazel and borax and, pouring slowly, beat into mixture until cool and creamy. Beat in almonds. Makes 3 oz. Refrigerate.

Because of the particular needs of aging skin, these scrubs (which you may vary any way you like, as long as the grains are included) are the only variation necessary beyond what would be offered to you by any other cream designed especially for dry skin.
