Cleansing creams for aging skin

Vegetable Cleansing Oil

If you prefer a liquid cleanser, any vegetable oil of your choice will work as well as the fanciest cream. And, if you purchase it in a health food store, you will get oil totally devoid of any preservatives. You can’t get purer than that.

Oatmeal Cleansing Scrub

1 oz cocoa butter
2 oz almond oil
1 oz rose water
1 tbsp beeswax
1/4 tsp borax
2-3 tbsp pulverize oatmeal (not the instant type)

Pulverize oatmeal in blender and set aside. Melt beeswax over low heat. Melt cocoa butter separately and add to warm almond oil. Dribble oil into beeswax (off the fire) beating constantly. Warm rose water and borax and beat into mixture until creamy and cool. Beat in oatmeal. Makes 4 oz. Refrigerate.

Strawberry-Almond Cleansing Scrub

1 tbsp beeswax
2 oz peanut oil
1 tbsp strawberry juice
1 tbsp witch hazel
1/4 tsp borax
Pulverize almonds

Liquefy strawberries in juicer or blender. Strain and set aside. Melt beeswax over low heat. Warm peanut oil and pouring slowly, beat into wax. Heat 1 tbsp of the strawberry juice with the witch hazel and borax and, pouring slowly, beat into mixture until cool and creamy. Beat in almonds. Makes 3 oz. Refrigerate.

Because of the particular needs of aging skin, these scrubs (which you may vary any way you like, as long as the grains are included) are the only variation necessary beyond what would be offered to you by any other cream designed especially for dry skin.
