Beauty masks for trouble skin

Peppermint Pack

3-4 tbsp wheat germ (protein)
1 tbsp peppermint extract (pulling power)
1 tbsp water

Blend extract and water into wheat germ to form a spreadable paste. Apply to face and let remain for 15 minutes. Remove with warm water and follow with a splash of cold. Pat face dry.

Egg white Mask

1 tsp camphor oil (drying qualities)
1 egg white (pulling power, tightening)

Whip slightly and apply to face. When first layer is dry, add a second and then a third layer. Let remain on face for 15 minutes and remove with warm water followed with a splash of cold.

Carrot-Clay Pack

1 oz carrot juice (astringent, vitamin A)
2 oz fuller’s earth (pulling power, drying qualities)
2 tbsp tincture of benzoin (antiseptic)

Add tincture of benzoin to fuller’s earth and work in enough carrot juice to form soft clay. Apply to face and let remain for 20 minutes. Remove with warm water followed with cold.

Bran 'n' Buttermilk Mask

3 tbsp pulverized bran (skin softener)
4 tbsp buttermilk (skin softener, bleach)

Pulverize bran in blender or mash until fine. Blend in buttermilk to form a soft paste and apply to face. Leave this soothing, softening mask on for 20 minutes and remove with warm water. Splash with cool water and pat dry.

Almond-Oat Scrub

3 tbsp pulverized oatmeal (protein, abrasive vehicle for soap and water mix)
1 tbsp shaved Castile or medicated soap (drying agent)
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp almond extract (scent)

Pulverize oatmeal in blender or mash fine. Add soap and pour water into mixture, mixing well, a little at a time, until a spreadable paste is formed. Blend in almond extract. Apply to face and let remain for 20 minutes. When removing with warm water, use a gentle washing motion to benefit from the slight abrasive action of the oatmeal. (Do not use if you have open wounds). Follow with cool rinse.

Herb-Protein Mask

1 egg yolk (protein)
1 1/2 tsp dried sage (astringent)
1 1/2 tsp dried mint (astringent, pulling power)
1 1/2 tsp dried thyme (astringent)

Whip the yolk until yellow and thick. Mix in herbs and apply to face. Let remain for 20 minutes and remove with warm water.

After Mask

After removing the mask, check your face carefully for black- or whiteheads that are ready to be pressed out from the pores. Caution must be taken when emptying clogged pores. Take a tissue and tear it in half. Cover both index fingers and press gently, but firmly, on either side of the blemish. Only remove that infection which dislodges without effort. Do not apply great pressure. Re-cover the fingers with a clean section of the tissue for each separate removal. Be careful that you don’t spread the infection. Use fresh tissue as necessary. (Do not squeeze any sort of blemish on the nose. If done improperly and infection ensues, it can drain directly to the drain and prove fatal. If you have persistent bumps on the nose, see a dermatologist.)When the face is clean, wipe it gently with a cotton pad moistened with the skin freshener of your choice to disinfect the area. Let the face dry naturally and then cover blemish with a drying agent.
