Hair rinses recipe



Rosemary Rinse

2 tbsp dried rosemary
1 cup boiling water

Place leaves in water and let steep for 2 hours. Strain and pour liquid into quart jar filled with 3 cups warm water. Pour rinse repeatedly through freshly shampooed hair.



Old-Fashioned Vinegar Rinse

1/2 cup white distilled vinegar
1qt boiling water

Mix, let cool to tepid and pour several times through freshly washed hair. Follow with clear water rinse of coolish water.


Lemon Rinse for Golden Highlights

Strained juice of two lemons
1 qt warm water

Mix and pour repeatedly through hair. Follow with clear, warm water rinse.



Lemon Rinse to Slightly Lighten Hair

Strain juice of four lemons

Work thoroughly through hair. Sit in the summer sun for 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. Rinse hair thoroughly with clear, warm water.


Chamomile Rinse for Gold highlights

1 handful of chamomile flowers or 6 chamomile tea bags
1 qt boiling water

Let chamomile steep in water until water is tepid. Pour repeatedly over freshly washed hair; let remain for 15 minutes and rinse with clear, warm water.



Sage Tea Rinse to Darken Hair

1 handful sage leaves
1 qt boiling water

Steep leaves in water for 2 hours, strain. Pour over hair repeatedly and let remain 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. Follow with a clear water rinse.



Beer or Champagne Rinse for Extra Body

1 cup any brand beer or champagne

Pour repeatedly through hair. Do not rinse.
